Hello,

When we are using a circuit breaker to protect a capacitor, we typically consider a special circuit breaker able to interrupt the capacitive currents.

If we are using a vacuum contactor (or SF6 contactor), is it also important or any specific characteristic should be considered?
or only the fuse has to be for capacitors?

I thank you in advance!!!

The contactor has to have a capacitor rating also. Just like a circuti breaker, the contactor may have a problem interrupting the capacitor current. The supplier should have a rating listing you can check. Fuses won't help.

In the case of vacuum interrupters one thing you should be aware of is there could be a problem with how you run your cable. The cable should not run parallel to the interrupter unless they are a minimum of 2 meters away. Some manufacturers may specify a greater distance.

If it is broken, fix it. If it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.

Hello everybody,

I thank your answers!
One additional point:
Is there any standard in which I may "support" this?

Because, typically suppliers try to defend their positions and of course, standards are always usefull to clarify things.

Best Regards,
