Good Day,

Hi, im a new a engineer, please bear with me. i would like to ask some help
Regarding compress output.

What does it mean if in the output its says

"Vacuum Rings did not govern the External Pressure Rating"

Sorry for the newb question, im just a little confused
Since the vessel has a FV confition and then I also input
The vac. Rings in compress and also in the otput its shows
That the vac. Rings is considered in the calculation of thk
For external pressure since the effective length used is considerably
Smaller (as per ug-28) and external pressure is the governing condition.

Hope someone will answer. Thank you.

This message translates to: "You may be able to accomplish this design with one (or more) fewer vacuum rings"

The message is part of the software trying to determine the designers intent. Vacuum rings are normally added to increase the external pressure rating. Eventually, adding more rings will not increase this rating, as another component's MAEWP will govern. This is the message that you are receiving, that the MAEWP of another component controls.
