We are working on a project to optimize the design of a machine using algorithms. The idea is to change the dimensions of key components so that the torque to perform a required movement is optimized.
I added a model below as an example.

The model performs a movement from A to B when the eccentric of the motor is turned. The rod connecting the motor eccentric to the blue body has a length X. We would like to make the length X variable to determine the most optimal length, for which the motor torque is minimized for the desired trajectory.
Would it be possible to make the length X of the rod link a variable in Motion Simulations so that the dimensions of the link can be automatically modified, several consecutive motion simulations can be performed, to analyze the torque to find the most optimal length X. The algorithm which determines the different lengths will be written in Matlab Simulink, so the several motion simulations would be performed with a co-simulation. (The input of the motion plant would be a length and the output torque)

The challenge is that links in motion simulations are based on the dimensions of the cad model and are made after geometry is determined. To my knowledge, is you want to change the dimensions of the model, you have to go back to the CAD environment, change the desired dimension and update the link in motion simulation. Would there be a better solution?
