Hello,

I'm wondering if there's a way to control the position of a variant of a component by e.g. using an expression or rembember constraint?

Example: an assembly consists of two parts, one base part (b) and one other component that comes in two variants, (a) and (c). (b) has two coordinate systems to be used for constraints, one in the rear and one in the front.

I would like to create an asembly that looks like: (a)(b) and by using replace component I get (b)(c) i.e. the variant has switched place from rear to front.

I would like to avoid using both variants and use expressions for supression.

Thankful for any suggestions

Have you considered the use of assembly arrangements?

Hi Cowski,

Yes, the idea is that this is going to be used with a configurator later on and that's why I choose to not use arrangements. However if arrangements works good when using an external configurator i.e. it's possible to apply logic to it then I guess arrangements are the best way to go. NX and Teamcenter is quite new to me so I guess I have a lot to learn, arrangements included.

By the way I'm running NX 6.

Best regards,

Arrangements are known to Teamcenter and so if you're controlling the 'configuration' from within Teamcenter, then Arranagements should provide a workable solution.
