is it possible to edit/read values and set markers in a Siemens PLC, ideally S7-2## using a pc running a visual basic / borland delphi program through a PC/PPI cable?

Or should i abandon the whole idea? I've had no luck so far and info is very thin on the ground

Regards

Tom

Yes, you can do that, but you first transform the port 0 on RS232c and design you own protocol, or buy the OPC drivers from several SCADA supplies.

Yep.. There is a company in Houston Texas that specializes in writing some very trick VB apps to interface with just about everyone's PLC. They are called Parijat Controlware, Inc. Website-
I attended a 2 day VB design class (more like a show and tell for their work) a few years back and I was impressed. They had a display at the ISA show (Houston) this year and they have really come a long way with their product. If we weren't so far into Wonderware and Intellution I would probably give them a shot at a small project.
