Hello folks: Does anyone have a quick and dirty spreadsheet for estimating vessel platform weights? I use COMPRESS for the little bit of vessel related work I do (all of that has to do with rigging) but a quick excel sheet would be handy.

If you are looking for walking platforms around a vertical pressure vessel, then your best bet is to get the ACTUAL weights of as many platform steel + plates or panels or grid material weights, add in the weights of structural supports, and work up the equation yourself.

Hint: It not be a simple A lbs + B lbs/area x area = total weight

since the weight of the angled support steel and handrails and live weight increases faster than area. Weight of the platform material itself will be proportional to area of the platform.

CollinPearson,

Attached is a quick and dirty spreadsheet I used on a recent project.

It calculates the area of radial platforms. You provide the necessary inputs like, platf width, angular extents and estimated weight per area.

doct9960, MJCronin & racookpe1978, thanks for your help folks! I am just getting back to this so I'll look through your suggestions this morning. Cheers.

Also, doct9960, that sheet you posted has 35#/SF entered in it which is what I also use. Thanks again
