Hi,
I am trying to proof that (Vertical hollow shaft) VHS motor does not need to be energy efficient for meeting the "NEMA" standard. In the NEMA MG-1, it specified what would quaify as an energy efficient motor, but it never stated what is the "standard." I don't believe they have a standard for VHS motor in terms of efficiency. Does anyone know anything about the NEMA requirement for VHS motors? I know they do have to meet the standarad fro frame size, torque and testing method. I don't see anything regarding to reach the efficiency level to meet the "NEMA" requirement.

Thanks

I think the VHS [and OHS] motors may follow NEMA MG-1 requirements related to: weather - protected type, frame size, thrust load losses, temperature rise and other, nevertheless NEMA does not refer directly to this type of motors. Also NEMA states what is requirement for energy efficient motor.Usually, OHS motors are energy efficient motors.
