vibrations with a decanter centrifuge 1

Dear all,

We encounter increasingly vibrations over a period of 12 hours on hour decanter centrifuge. Probably the machine gets fould because after a hot water flush (cleaning) the oscillations dissapear. Does anybody has experience with this and how to solve it? Typically we want to run much longer then just 12 hours, but the oscillations stop us from doing so.

It sounds like you are getting solids on the scroll body and flushing displaces them. The oscillating vibrations come from the unbalance of the scroll and bowl and once you remove the unbalance from the scroll, the oscillations will stop, or reduce. This happens to every manufacturer to one degree or another.

A typical cause of this is feeding too much to the machine and the feed product builds up in the scroll and the solids separate out, causing your unbalance. You can try running a slower feed rate and see if that works.

Another possibility is your product is sticking to the scroll flights or discharge nozzles/opening. If you run at a high temperature, changing the temperature may help.

This is a common problem with many decanter applications and is always related to the product you are running. It would be best if you could pull the scroll without flushing and see exactly where the solids are building up, this would then let you know what you need to do to reduce the problem.
