Views problem, Compass problem? HELP!

Hi all,

I started an assembly quite well, after a while the default views (top, front, bottom, etc...) changed their orientation quite a little bit, I don't know how this happened.

The thing is I need to get back to the default views but I don't know how, I just tried to orient my drawing as I wish it to be with the correct orientation and I reset the compass orientation, but as soon as I click on a named view it gives me back the wrong oriented views. How can I do to reset the whole thing and have correct views?

The first possibility I know of is that your parts probably physically changed orientation within the product. Updating constraints without having some base part fixed in space would do this.

To fix this type of problem involves a few steps. First, insert a new part into the product. Click No in the dialog box, to orient the new part origin coincident with the product origin. Next, fix the new part in space. The new part has xyz-planes, and maybe an axis system (if set), that you can constrain your parts to.

The last step is to re-constrain your "base" part to the new part to reset the correct orientation. If your constraints are well made, the rest of the parts should follow along. If not, the worst case is to rebuild all or most constraints in the product.

Not a quick fix I know, but sometimes that's just what you have to do.

Hey Mark, thanks a lot!

It worked perfectly and it is a very clever solution, I wasn't aware of the fact that sometimes pieces may change orientation of the assembly when doing updates, now I know and I'm glad I had my assembly perfectly constrained to one initial part that I just reoriented with your method and worked out perfectly.
