Hello,

I have just started learning about GD&T, and my question is as below:

A basic sketch is attached.
When a hole is located using a position tolerance and refined using a perpendicularity tolerance (both of which have the MMC modifier), what is the virtual condition(s) of the hole and why?

1. Is the MMC hole size minus the position tolerance (0.5-0.025-0.002)?
2. Is the MMC hole size minus the perpendicularity tolerance (0.5-0.025-0.0005)?
3. Are there 2 separate virtual conditions?

Thanks!

Hi,
Each feature control frame that has an MMC modifier applied defines a separate Virtual Condition.
The orientation of the hole relative to datum A must be such that the hole's surface will not violate a virtual condition boundary of 0.5-0.025-0.0005.
The location of the hole relative to the Datum Reference Frame must be such that the hole's surface will not violate a virtual condition boundary of 0.5-0.025-0.002.
The latter Virtual Condition boundary would also limit the orientation relative to datum A, if a tighter perpendicularity tolerance had not been specified.
