VisBasic in NX??

Hello,

I'm completely new to VisBasic in NX, all my experience is with CATIA V5. I'm just wondering what the hurdles will be when my company makes the switch to NX. It's a broad topic for sure. Is there supporting documentation somewhere in the install? Is there an onboard editor? General Pro/Cons?

There are many programming/automation options with NX. You can write your code in any one of several languages, including C++, any .NET language (VB,C#, F#, etc.), Python, or Java. All these languages give you access to roughly the same NX functionality.

Also, you can record interactive steps as a program in any one of these languages, which is called "journaling" in NX jargon. Program recorded this way are typically a huge mess, but they give you a place to start.

Your code calls functions in the NX/Open library or the SNAP library. NX/Open is enormously powerful, but it's not easy to learn (though easier than the Catia CAA stuff). SNAP is much simpler, but it's far narrower, and it's only usable via .NET languages.

There are "Getting Started" guides for NX/Open and SNAP, and also reference manuals listing all the functions/classes/properties.
