Hey guys, Mech engineer here looking for some basic optical advice. I'm going to be measuring several brands of lights output to certain wavelengths (red and blue) and i plan on purchasing, having made, how ever i need to go about it, a couple filers for the lights so i can test their output in the specific spectrum. My issue is, I'm using photo transistors (filtered to the visible spectrum) to measure the power output and i would need to make sure that my filters are not diffracting light elsewhere unless its by the same amount on all of the filters. I assume I'm going to have to use colored class & as far as I understand it, i would need to polish the glass to a very clean finish. But I'm unsure if this is how i ensure that the output is the same across all of the filters i have made. Any thoughts on how I can make comparable light energy output filters of different colors? Essentially i want to have as little light loss as it is filtered through the glass & need all filters to be the same standard of light loss.

sorry if this is long winded or confusing. Thanks for your time.

Only confusing in the sense that it's probably absurd to make your own filters, particularly if you probably don't even know what wavelength the filters are, nor what transmission they have.

Of course I can. I can do anything. I can do absolutely anything. I'm an expert!

I just need large plates to cover the lights I plan to filter. That's the only reason. I'd love a source for good light filters for sizes ranging from 2ft by 2ft to 4ft by 4 ft
