We are using Windows XP SP3 in VirtualBox to run I-Deas 12. One of my guys is getting a 'Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library, Runtime Error!, Program: C:\UGS\IDEAS12\ideas\ideast.exe' error that pops up after the DOS box but before anything else shows up on the screen.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled C++ 2010 redistributable package. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled I-Deas 12. Neither made any difference.

XP itself doesn't appear to have any problems. Has anyone had this problem?
Thanks,
Phill

It appears to have been the model file. Possibly the size of the model file. He can run it with a new model file. He lost a few days worth of work but will not let it get that large again.

I know it's not the cause if your issue, but for future reference since you are on old I-deas 12, VC 2010 is way too new for old I-deas 12. It would be using VC 2005 or even VC6 libraries.

But back to your issues, I assume this is the same MF you posted about the 2Gb size on.

I had to dig up some old documentation to remind myself, but it's possible the LAA (Large Address Aware) settings could be of assistance to you. This allows I-deas to access more than 2Gb based on some Win XP extensions.

Search Docs for "Large Address Aware Memory Tuning" or "Total Virtual Memory" such.

It will involve some LAA and/or TVM settings in your I-deas Param file, to tell I-deas to use LAA.

It might also need a settings in your Win XP boot file to tell it it can access 3Gb (assuming you have it).

Hope that helps!
