Volume of the Soil and Calculus

Hello All

Thus I am a young engineer and lately, i am dealing with tons of soil. Every day I need to know how many cubes we got more and here is the question what I am doing I am using GPS and then calculating volume by Simpson method, however, i am wondering whether I would be able to use calculus to get the more accurate number and whether it is possible? Any pieces of advice? thank you very much in advance

You need to be more specific. For instance what kind of a job? How is the job paid for? volume in place? Volume on trucks or scrapers? Compacted volume where finally placed, etc.? Soil type?

So, every day we have trucks coming with topsoil on our site

we have a specific area where they unloading it.

Thus, finally every day we have some kind pyramid shape which I need to measure to find out how many m3 of soil we got that day, now what I am trying to find is how can I calculate the volume of it? using calculus.

Can you weigh the trucks? more positive method.

A common method is to measure up some average loads on the trucks, considering they are all loose. Then observe the loads and, unless some are way different ( which you can measure in the truck) merely count the trucks and multiply by the average. .

I appreciate that here in Japan, we get documentation from the quarries about the amount of soil that is delivered to the site. Also, there is some local traffic laws that limit the amount of soil in dump trucks. So, the truck's drivers put a limit mark line in the dump truck. We just need to count the number of trucks.

Following this, perhaps you can add your own marks in the trucks and approximately calculate the amount of soils.
