Hi all,

For preparing hydrated lime from quicklime, after screw feeder there is one vortex mixer which adds water to quicklime powder before going into slaking tank. How can i find some information about designing a vortex mixer and what the requirements of correct design are.

Thanks in advance

Are you sure about the terminology? All the vortex mixers I can find look like laboratory sized units and single volume test tubes.

You make it sound more like an inline mixer?

A drawing, sketch or link would help, but if you don't know where to start a vendor is a good place / person to talk to.

Talk to a manufacturer. The lime mixers are usually supplied as part of the system.

Hi Guys,

As it looks like it is a simple cone as attached.

Any idea what the film thickness calculation would be?

thanks,

I can only imagine that this will increase in thickness as you go down the funnel.

So to start with assume half of the pipe circumference at the depth of your inlet pipe and use the flow rate to work out the thickness then assume the two feeds work down the funnel in a double helix fashion.
