I need to analyze existing W-shape girders for shear and moment. The structural steel is A36. I want to use the tables in AISC, but the steel values in the 14th editions are for Fy = 50ksi. What do I do?

Find the section properties and use the Fy you have on hand to calculate your resistance values.

1) Find an old manual that dealt with 36 ksi OR;

2) Calculate capacities rather than take them from the tables OR;

3) If you're confident that you understand the situation well enough to rule out failure modes where doing so would not be appropriate, ratio your moment and shear capacities in the tables down by 36ksi / 50ksi.
