Hi there, I am modeling a multi story building with concrete bearing/shear wall. The window openings are inconsistent from 2nd to ground floor so ive entered grids and drawn in the walls and openings in the correct locations. However, when I run the model, the base of the 3rd floor wall does not seem to be connected to the wall below, and deflects up and down. Ive yet to come across this issue before and have had no luck searching for a solution online. Any ideas? Model and screenshot attached.

Thanks!

Mesh the wall on the ground floor so that the edges of the wall below matches with the edges of the wall above.

ETABS is very finicky. Joint like being together with joints...

Thank you for the quick response, Im not sure I understand what youre saying though...

"Mesh the wall on the ground floor so that the edges of the wall below matches with the edges of the wall above" - does this mean copy the walls above to the bottom floor, but delete the beams and fill in the openings with wall sections?

"Joint like being together with joints..." - Not sure what you mean here.

Thanks again!

You have one continuous wall below and several different walls above.

The wall below should be "meshed" or "broken up" at the same frequency as the wall above.

Great, thanks EZBuilding, I believe this solved the issue.

Steps followed,

Select all walls, assign/shell/wall auto mesh options, switched from default to auto rectangular

Thanks again!

I have gotten in the practice of manually meshing walls and one-way slabs in ETABS to avoid these connectivity issues. Glad to hear the auto mesh option worked out for you.
