I'm designing anchors to fasten the new deck on top of the existing clay tile wall with solid brick siding. The wall has 4" thick solid brick on top. I'm not able to decide on whether to anchor my wall plate using anchors embedded into clay tile with sleeve or if 3" anchorage into top solid brick is enough to transfer lateral load from the deck to the wall.
Another option is to drill a hole past solid brick, grout solid the clay tile and install the bolt.
See attached image for reference. I tried giving a picture of both cases and the wall's appearance. Let me know if you worked on something similar. Your suggestions will be appreciated.
