Hi,
I'm attaching a master file to my Patran database, and the program give me this answer:
<<$# Warning reported from application Results
An error occurred while retrieving "Global Variables" via Direct Results Access. There may be an incompatibility between the Direct Results Access version and the Analysis Code version used to create the results file.>>
After that I can work with the results, but I don't know the meaning of this Warning and if it can compromise the result quality. Can anyone tell me the meaning?

Thank you all,
Davide

We had this error on a thermoelastic analysis meshed in Hypermesh and then analyzed in Nastran and imported to Patran.
Turned out this error was actually indicating us "why our thermoelastic stresses had multiplied by 10^6".

Careful with what you are working on when you get this error. It is either above, or, your Patran database got really really messed up attaching so many *.xdb results that it will get confused and even give zero stress/force outputs.

All above was in 2005 versions. Hope the new one got better. But this is no new thing if someone is a persistent Patran/Nastran user of about 4-5 years.
Patran/Nastran really has its advantages way ahead of many software packages in automating parametric pre/post-processing stuff.

The madness I did with Patran before, couldn't be done in Hypermesh. When I checked this with Hypermesh support guys, it turned out the software wasn't designed for "crazy" parametric algorithm setups. Well, Patran was and is.. Just to point out why Patran makes more sense in aerospace even after this bug. Hope it helps :)
