Hey guys! I am trying to figure out warping constant calculation of haunched section. You can see dimensions on picture below.

I am designing it via "design of steel portal frame buildings eurocode 3" . In section F3.5.3. they just say that it is calculated with spread sheet.
I looked up in "SCI P385 design of steel beams in torsion" but no luck, it only has monosimetric I section.
I cant find any examples on internet. Could someone link me any good explanation or advise me what to do![hourglass]

How does warping stress get into the haunch? I would just ignore it and treat it like a single I section. An elevation view might help.

Here you go another view!

I dont know how to treat this kind of section or how midle flange afects warping ![ponder]

Now you made me think... Flanges of this section are class 1 so not susceptible to warping, i think??
If I treated it as a single I section web would be more slender. I guess that would be conservative?

because of lack of double symmetry, they may no longer be Class 1

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?

You could use the sectionproperties python package to obtain warping constant (and other properties) of this section.

I think the thread is for haunch stability ..

Suggest you to look

- Haunch cross section verification 7.1.3 of the following doc,

- Restraint and member buckling 7.2.2

- EC-3 Appendix BB 3

If using that hand formula, just ignoring the original bottom flamge will be conservative. If you're after an exact value use python package. What do you need the warping constant for in this context given the very short hunched region?

Hey! sorry for not answering! Well I am following "design of steel portal frame buildings eurocode 3" guide and it demands that constant in step by step solution. I will go for now with conservative solution.
