Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has experience regarding the maximum allowable velocity in PP-R pipes for domestic water supply.
What I'm currently using is 6 ft/s for cold water supply, and 4 ft/s for hot water supply. I'm especially doubtful about the hot water supply figure because I am actually using a value I got from a presentation done by Grundfos for domestic circulation systems so I'm starting to think that a higher value can be used for non-circulation systems because the flow is not continuous, as opposed to circulation systems where continuous flow might be harsher on the pipes.

Best Regards

Continuous flow systems would exhibit more probability to erosion and other velocity driven phenomena.

I have not used PP-R piping for domestic water, but I would assume it would have similar recommendations as CPVC and other plastic pipes.

I typically limit velocities to 5 ft/s in plastic pipe, but I have seen other documentation that increases the limit to 8 ft/s.

PEDARRIN2,
Thank you for your response. Understood.
