Hi guys

I have an assembly made up from a bunch of components. One component is basically just a sketch which I use to control the other components in the assembly. The other components have some cuves wave linked from the sketch component. Originally when I edit the sketch component(change the angle of a line) the model geometry in the other components would update.
The link is not broken but its stopped working!
When I look at the wave inforation for the linked curve it says status:Out of Date (Position Dpendent)
Any advice on how i re establish the associativity?

Thanks

If you can duplicate the problem in a small enough file to post then that would be great, otherwise what version are you using?

PLEASE, whenever you're asking about a specific problem or issue, include the version of NX that you're running.

Thank you.

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

There are a couple of things to check...

First go to...

Tools -> Update ->

...and see if either 'Delay Interpart' or 'Delayed after Edit' is toggled ON.

Next, check your Load Options and make sure that 'Use Partial Loading' is toggle OFF and 'Load Interpart Data' is toggled ON.

And if none of that helps, it is possible that you have a license for the WAVE Module? If so, go to...

Assemblies -> WAVE -> Associativity Manager...

...and check to see if 'Delay Interpart Updates' is toggled ON, or if anything shows up in the 'Out of Date Frozen Parts' panel in this dialog.

If nothing is found after checking all of this and the behavior has not changed, then we will need to see at least simple example where this behavior is manifesting itself.

Thanks for the input guys.

I'm using NX6 (sorry - have to remember to mention that in future)

I checked all the toggles as suggested and there was nothing to indicate any delay.

I then went Tools-> Update-> Update For External Change and this updated everything. I don't know why it started doing this but at least the problem is resolved for the moment and I can get the job finished.

I appreciate the help

The 'Update for External Changes' is a sort of 'DO EVERYTHING' catch-all function and is often used to update items which are not as well integrated as other items, such as after editing a Part Attribute, making sure that if there are any Drawing notes which referenced it, that they get updated as well.

I have witnessed this same illusive behavior with NX 6 on occasion. Unable to get it duplicated at GTAC. Thanks for the update for external change suggestion. I had not tried that before.

hey John,
In an above reply you made your text bold and red.
How did you do that?

jerry1423,
Click the 'Process TGML' link (in step 2 of the reply box) it will give you all the markup options for your text.

John probably used the attention tag

Another suggestion to help with the 'what version of NX' issue, set-up an automatic 'signature' and include relevant information about your configuration and software levels.
