We have a coal hammer mill. It reduces coal size from 50 mm to 1 mm. We have been observing air on the top of the hammer mill and it feels like hammer mill is operating as a propellar?

Is it possible, if so, how to control it?

I have attached the PNID of the coal system.

You probably need to attach it as a file as the image function reduces the definition and at that size of text makes it unreadable.

Plus can you please add some sort of process description as most if us have no idea how this would work.

which bit are you concerned about and what is meant by "operating as a propeller"??

I have attached the PNID.

The coal crusher reduces the size of bituminous coal. The crushed coal is burnt in Furnace.

Bituminous coal is provided by external coal handling system and stored in 2 coal bunkers. From the silos the fuel is discharged by discharge though chain conveyors. The discharge conveyor of the respective line transfers the fuel to a hammer mill. The conveyor 1HHE14AF001 transports the coal to the rotary feeder 1HHE15AF001. The rotary feeder seals the fuel feeding line to the furnace.

We observe a large amount of air containing dust from opening at the top of hammer mill. This dust is causing a housekeeping problem and ultimately adds to risk of dust explosion.

@LittleInch
what is meant by "operating as a propeller"?
Seems like topicstarter considers the air is produced by grinder vanes rotation (the grinder operates like a propeller) so the air outcoming from silo is not related to bulk density change and size reduction.
