Hi Folks,
Does anybody know if it is possible to weld a plate in Corten B material to anotherv plate in 13CRMO45 material? and if so what WPS could be used.
Thanks a lot

A WPS is a specific company's specific weld procedure that that particular company has written and tested. Unless you're going to copy (steal) their work, or get permission to use their information and testing protocols, and their qualification methods and testing and training, you (in one company) can't use a different company's WPS.

Well, you can, but you will have no legal standing when sued for using proprietary data or when the weld breaks.

Yes, it is possible to weld these two base materials. You should develop your own welding procedure specification versus purchasing a Standard Welding Procedure Specification (SWPS) provided by AWS. The SWPS is not directly applicable for this material combination. The 13CrMo4-5 will be similar to a Cr-Mo (SA 387 Gr11) so preheat and possibly PWHT will be required, it depends on the plate thickness.

Thanks metengr I took your advice and have already prepared a WPS (considering the huge difference between the parameters for welding and consumables used for A387 and CortenB,(like Temp,Volt.,Amp.,speed ...etc)it was not so easy, the weld is sent for testing and I just hope that it passes, if so I'LL BE THE PROUD OWNER OF AN AMAZING WPS which is neither Copied nor Stolen!!!
nd racookpe1978 (Sorry don't know your gender) one day somebody somehow shall copy all my parameters and stamp it as his own and since most of WPSs are almost the same, how am I going to prove that I created it ? its the Parameters,,,,,
Sincerely

E8018 B2 electrodes or similar alloy steel weld filler metals for other weld processe are commonly used for this combination

Thank you Stanweld, I prepared a WPS myself and until Monday shall not know the results of tests on the weld that we made at the workshop for testing, I hope it passes the tests and my worries were mostly about Pre temp. & the Temp. while welding, Voltage, Amps and other parameters but I used another electrode (Wires !) which is almost the same as chemicals as used for A 387.
Sincerely
