Dear Eng-Tip community,

I am looking for references for the design and strength analysis of welded connections. In particular, I am wondering if there is an equivalent to the existent guidelines for systematic analysis of threaded joint (such as the German VDI2230).

I have checked some books of machinery and mechanical engineering, such as Shigley. However, the methodology presented in those references is quite simple and I would like something in more detail.

Could you suggest any standards or handbooks?

Thank you very much,

Kind regards.

If you want standardized calculations similar to VDI2230, then you need to look at standards like AWS D1.1, EN 1993, EN 1993-1-8, and steel construction codes like AISC LRFD.

Thank you very much for your answers! Very useful information!
