I don't usually use weld beads. I think weld symbols are enough to convey how I want parts welded together. I also feel that weld beads add too much to a model file that doesn't need to be there as well.

But (here it comes), I have now ran into a problem where I have a very complicated weld assembly. I could still revert to the use of weld symbols, but this will require me to create several auxillary views, sections and what-not in order to place these symbols. This will grow my 2d drawing to at least 3-4 B-size sheets (which I don't have a problem in doing).

I guess my questions are, 1) Who likes weld beads and 2) Should I stick with symbols are try the beads? "Happy the Hare at morning for she is ignorant to the Hunter's waking thoughts."

Well, I guess my real question would be, how else are you going to tell someone to make it? Or is this you:

Not me, though I have worked with those types before. = ) "Happy the Hare at morning for she is ignorant to the Hunter's waking thoughts."

Coming from the old school, as I started out welding those prints turned out by "those types" I got used to reading the symbols. and applying my experience in working with the same gentleman for many years... if you want to be absolutely crystal clear about where you want them, by all means use them... you can always suppress them for performance reasons if you need to, just create a configuration for them, and used that named config on the drawing. Make it a RapiDraft dwrawing if it's large that way it wont have to load the entire model to resolve itself.

Makes for a much nicer presentation in my book.
