Hello experts,

In API653 for repair of tank shell repair with lap welded patches it is mentioned that should be used welding factor of 0.7. In other case 0.35. My question - what it's influence in repairing the tank? I understand that for new tank it could ask for thicker shell (for example EN13445 does that). In this case what is it's influence? Maybe NDT quantity should be bigger or what?

You use the joint efficiency to determine if you can actually use a lap patch.

I saw your response but it is now deleted. Did you determine how to determine if a lap-patch is acceptable?
