Do you know if is possible to esecute cladding or weld overlay inside a LWN 2" nozzle? probably it's hard to do, the lenght of the nozzle is 300 mm c.ca.
Can you give me some referrement of similar cases? thank you very much at all.

Christian-

I've never heard of cladding in a 2" long weld neck, but have often seen weld overlayed. It can be done - check with some fabricators / suppliers. One option is to use solid stainless/alloy nozzles, but if cracking is a concern then carbon with overlay will be preferred.

Yes jte, you're right when you say that cladding for LWN 2" is strange....this was a little mistake in my question; the other question regards the NDE test on overlay to check if it has been done correctly. Can you or someone give me some example? or photo? thanks again.

Liquid penetrant exam and ultrasonic examination - L wave to check for bond integrity. This should be performed by qualified personnel.

2" lwn is no problem

also PMI to verify alloy

are you in US OR CANADA?

I have seen the SA 106 PIPE be galvanized.

this pipe is used for co2 gas, for the lower cost we select cs instead of the SS

and this pipe is 2m long.

we galvanize it after NDE.

the galvanization is bad for the screw.so if it has some screw you shouldn't galvanize it.

It is quite common to weld overlay stainless steel inside the 2" NB nozzle, try google for suppliers in USA, UK (Scotland), India. Particularly the Scotland and India are high quality ones, but I'm sure a good purchasing spec would do the same in USA. These nozzles are coming fully NDE inspected and certified, including hardness and optional additional tests, also fully compliant with ASME SA 263, 264 as required. It took a while to detect those able to make smaller than 3" noozzles welded with flanges to ASME B16.5. If required I could provide contacts. Special requests can be accommodated by the Indian fabricator, at no extra cost (eg. min. 3 mm undiluted layer!).

If you can get by with an overlay weld I would give these people a call. They can give you a shop that will do the job or if you have several they will rent you the equipment to do the job.

As you are talking a relatively short bore we have rolled in a liner, with and without grooves. This was mainly where we were getting erosion.

Off the box.

Another possibility.

The bortech system is typically coupled with the GMAW process, s/c or pulse, and, the overlay is welded circumferentially. Other folks use SAW and deposit the overlay longitudinally. Either method can yield acceptable results in a 2" LWN.
