Hi,

To qualify a welder to weld a set through nozzle on an ASME VIII vessel can I rely on a butt weld procedure that covers the thickness of the vessel, or I need to do a nozzle/plate procedure ?
The nozzle is 2"NB XXS and the vessel is 10"NB XXS in 316 stainless.

I am just trying to set aside time/costs for the necessary work.

Thanks for any help

The devil is in the details; she also wears prada.

See ASME IX QW-423 Alternative base material for welder qualification.
