Weld symbol ID line missing

We have a welded assembly and one of our engineers wants to add weld symbols with the dashed ID line over the top. However in the assmebly drawing when he tries to add a weld symbol the toggle switches and indeed the dashed ID line are not there as part of the menu (see left hand image). However, this problem only relates to this one assembly, if we open another assembly and add weld symbols, then the ID line and toggle switches are all there as shown in th right hand image. I have searched for settings but without success. Any body have an idea where this is going wrong?

Many thanks in advance

Best regards

This could be due to the drawing standard:
This is from the Help Docs...

Identification Line Top - For ISO and DIN only. Displays the dotted line above the reference line.

Identification Line Bottom - For ISO and DIN only. Displays the dotted line below the reference line

Check the following default in the drawing with the missing buttons. Is it set to DIN?

File-->Utilities-->Customer Defaults-->Drafting-->Other Symbols-->Weld
I’m not sure how you would change this for an existing drawing.

We have it set to ISO, but for one drawing the ID line is none existant, for any other there is no problem. I was trying to find a manual override in the drafting but no luck yet. :-(

Best regards

It may be set to ISO now, but would the user have changed the default in the past? In the problematic assy are you able to lay down a weld symbol then right click properties on it. On the attributes tab what does the Weld Standard say?

Metric file or english? It shouldn't matter, but I vaguely recall there being some (unwanted) differences with weld symbols in english unit files.

Found the problem, this part was originally created years ago to ANSI. However there is no way of converting the weld symbols to ISO unless all the weld symbols are deleted, the part is saved and then the ISO default will come into play.

This is a royal pain in the @ss because it is a 20 sheet drawing with nearly 300 weld symbols in total. A job for a student me thinks!

Thanks for the help.

Hi,

I too faced this problem in a drawing. As Simon(JCBCad) said we have to remove all the weld symbols in that existing drawing & change the Cusotmer default-Utilities-Drafting-drafting standards-Cutomise standards-in weld tab change to the desired you need. Then save the customer defaults & from tools pull down menu select Drafting standards choose the standards to load. Then do the weld symbol. It will work. This worked to me.
