Hi,
I have a part where I weld a 5mm strip of aluminium to a 5mm wall tube. The strip is mitred and welded.
I am looking to put a flange on the tube, machine a hoop in the strip and then bond to the tube.
The question is what sort of thickness should the hoop section be to approximate to the stregth of the welded joint?
If there is an equation to work out this ratio that would be excellent.
Hopefully the diagram will make more sense!!
Regards
John
