Dear all,
Im kinda stuck at welder qualification of branch welds. We have a nipoflange which connects to pipe's surface directly (with bevel and full penetration) but since it is not a butt weld and has nearly 20mm thickness I couldnt find anything related to this in ASME SecIX. Is this treatable as fillet weld or should I qualify a welder according to required diameter and thickness limits.
Thanks.

Welder qualification has to be done for branch welds also. You need to study Article III of ASME IX for your specific case. Deposited weld metal thickness is an essential variable for welder qualification.
