Welding ASTM Pipe A790-UNS S32205 (2205) to F51/F60 Fittings (2205) P-10H

We have a WPS that is P 10H to P 10H which gives an example of UNS S32750 etc. The concern I have is the rod is an ER2594 not a regular ER2209 rod. I feel like we are using a Cr25 rod for Cr22 parent materials.

Typically if we are using a P-1 to P-1 WPS we use ER70S(E6010/E7018 electrode). Since 10H covers both ER2209 and ER2594, am I correct to assume I can use this ER2594 WPS for Classification 2205 pipe and fittings?

You can check the consumable datasheets and consumable manufacturers’ literature. A quick search shows that several manufacturers propose their ER2594 as being an acceptable filler for S32205 parent materials. The problem will come if you have to perform a G48 corrosion test: selecting test parameters, and acceptance criteria.

After further review and talking with the manufacturer. It appears the only issue is the cost in which that rod is much more expensive and the recommended rod as per the Manufacturer that would be ER2209. We are adding extra alloy elements that are not required.
