Welding dissimilar materials

Does anyone have any knowledge/experience with welding of 17-7PH to A-2 tool steel. I found sometthing on the web that suggests friction welding might work.

Can you provide some information as to the purpose of the weld, type of weld and intended application? This is important information to evaluate if welding is feasible for your intended service.

We also need to know the starting heat treat condition of each part, and the desired final condition.
