Dear sir,
If we are going to weld the 6mm and 20mm thk carbon steel plates, with suitable electrode.
Then, which plate will bend more?

Whether, 6mm or 20mm plate?.

Normally, we say that 6mm will bend more.
But my question is, in 20mm plate our metal deposition is more than as compared to 6mm.

Then, why 6mm will deformed more than 20mm.

And if 20mm will bend, we say.
Then, 6mm has low thickness as compare to 20mm. So 6mm has to bend more.

Sir, asking as a curiosity. To learned more.
Thanks

Regard
Prasad

If you're talking about the angular deformation after butt welding to plates together, I'd say: it depends.
Weaving the cap on an unrestrained 20 mm plate will yield the most deformation of both.

hm...a sketch would make it easier to understand .....

Ah, pictures, the universal language.

And not the pictures I may have in my head when I'm verbally describing a problem to someone else .

Attached for your additional learning are several interesting papers concerning deformation associated with welding parameters. The two main parameters are plate thickness and heat input depending on the type of distortion.

For thicker plates, welding from one side and the other using a double vee groove weld joint will help to reduce distortion by attempting to balance residual stresses.

Dear sir,

Thanks for reply.

Requesting to please conclude the topic, confirming , where bendness will come more 6mm or 20mm.

Please identify which welded joint you are talking about to allow make any progress toward concluding the topic.

Please provide a sketch identifying the bendedness you are encountering, or think you MAY encounter.

here are some examples -
