Welding of two dissimilar materials

Dear Experts,

I've got a column with bottom part made from Incoloy 800 H and top section from Chrome Moly.

It is possible to weld these two materials directly, if not, then I might have to go with a full body flange (40") for the transition.

Yes, you can weld these together using a Ni-base filler metal (Inco A or an equivalent). What is the Grade of Cr-Mo? The reason for my asking is that you may need to PWHT the Cr-Mo side of the weld joint.
