Please advise what this welding symbol means see attached

I'm just curious why any joint that can permit CJP on a square groove will bend the material so far out of shape it'll eliminate machining. I've seen it done countless times with. Machining is often used to eliminate bend in material too.

hollow shaft gentlemen not sheet metal, I never seen called out as such either, customer drawing, I don't have the latest AWS specification, and lost my old one.

To me, it just looks like that want the inside of the weld joint cleaned by machining, be it turning, boring, milling, drilling, etc. Not sure how practical that may be on the part or possible.

I see them all the time, even for joining handrail, rail sections.

turn and grind the out side diameter, butt welded and machined.

Never use these types of welding symbols in detailed shop drawings. Use only fillet weld symbols.

What? So you'd spec a groove weld with a...fillet weld symbol?

Try to view the initial post (OP) on 22 Oct 21.
Let me explain: "Use only fillet weld symbols" when only fillet weld is required. For groove welds never use symbols.
This was my intention on 26 Oct 21
