metengr,
A big pat on the back for your response.
Me, I am starting to get a bit tired of the questions that keep cropping up on this forum recently.
A 20 mm thick dissimilar pipe weld joint is a serious weld.
This question should be answered by the companies Welding Engineer or Piping Engineer - it shouldn't be asked on an internet forum.

With the huge downturn in O&G you have a lot of inexperienced people trying to pretend they can do the job of experienced people (or companies with no O&G experience grabbing anything they can) - when they get stuck they just jump on the internet and ask for help.

A very good friend of mine manages a website that deals exclusively with ASME IX.
One day he got fed up and posted a response which was basically - we do our best to assist anyone who needs help but if you are too lazy to do your own research - don't bother asking.
We are here to help you when you have exhausted all avenues yourself and you are stuck but don't expect us to do your work for you.

Sorry for my rant,

Thanks. I do appreciate your responses. My goal is to pass down what little tribal knowledge I possess to others before I depart this earth.
