Weldment cut-list question

Hi, I have a welded frame consisting of about 7 different size pieces of channel and tubing. I'm still not totally sure how the whole cut-list works in your part file, for example, re-ordering and moving members of your cutlist around and to different folders, etc. And how to change the order of the cutlist to be what you want in the drawing's table.

Also, I have 2 pieces of C5 x 6.7 x 24 inches long. Both of their path segments come from the same sketch and both pieces of channel were created in the same member feature. However, they show up as seperate items in my drawing's cut-list table. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? And can somebody help me out understanding the cutlist? I've already read help and searched the forum. No luck.

Have you called your VAR or taken any training? THis might help you out, plus if you check out the Online Tutorial. It has in there Weldments. Which is bound to help you out.

If you have already gone through the Tutorial, maybe going through it again will help.

Yeah after hours and hours of tweaking and fiddling, im pretty confident with the cutlist now. Its pretty dificult to teach it in words without writing a novel.

Just little things you will learn over time like the 'automatic' feature isnt all that great. I myself switch it off and create it manually.

The RMB is your friend. Once you have created your weldment, right mouse click the one or multiple parts that are identical and select "Add to cutlist".

Anyway...it is a complicated feature in sw. But once you mess around with it for awhile, it gets easier.

Thanks D3sign3r. I agree...I had been using the automatic version and like other "automatic" features in SW (like ballooning) so much fixing is needed it's not worth it. Manual seems to work good for me I just wish there was an easy way to re-order cutlist items after they've been created w/o having to re-do the whole thing.

As for reordering, have you tried the Sort feature on the cutlist table in the drawing? You can right-click on any column and sort asending or decending.

Yes, but if I wanted something other than by lenth or name...I wish it had the same option as BOM has to follow assembly order in FM Tree. Something like that. I'll make an enhancement request.

By default the cutlist table follows the order of the cutlist items in the FM tree. As long as you are creating the cutlist items manually, create them in the order you want them listed.

But you are right about not being able to reorder after thay have been created and an ER is definately justified
