I noticed that the Westinghouse "Distribution Systems Electric Utility Engineering Reference Book" is labeled as volume 3. My question is do volumes 1 and 2 exist?

The Preface makes reference to the other volumes as titled below but it also mentions that the first two volumes have not been published yet.

Volume 1 - System Analysis and Generation
Volume 2 - Transmission and System Protection

Does any one know if these were actually published?

I know volume 2 exists. It has also been updated and taken over by ABB. You can purchase a copy from them and it also comes with a CD version.

I don't know if volume 1 was ever produced.

The book you are referring to as volume 2 is the "T&D Reference Book".

"Volume 2 - Transmission and System Protection" is a different book than the T&D Reference Book. In the preface for Volume 3 it also refers to the T&D book seperately from the two volumes I listed.

It was probably renamed to "Applied Protective Relaying" before publication, eventually becoming ABB's "Protective Relaying Theory and Applications."

I have the 1950 ish 4 th edition (T&D Reference). This has been a great read for many years.

To the best of my knowledge, Volume 1 was never published. I think remember seeing somewhere that the group was disbanded as part reorgainizing efforts.
