Hi, what are the pros and cons of using careless DC motors over cored counterparts?

This is what I got from a Google search:

Advantages and Disadvantages of a Coreless Motor

Coreless DC motors usually have less current loss, making it more efficient
overall than cored types. Low drawing current: It doesn't draw as much current
as some other motors, so when powered by a battery the battery will last longer.

BreadboardPerson,

Are you designing motors or selecting them from a catalogue?

BreadboardPerson,

If you are buying a motor off the shelf, you are interested in torque, speed, power consumption, mounting, output shaft, possibly encoder mounting, cooling, availability of gearheads, what colour it is, etc. You don't care about windings and armatures.

That's an interesting beast, it's new to me (and my job is motors...but not the small ones).

Low rotating inertia is another feature of the coreless motor which may benefit some applications (where rapid or frequent acceleration / deceleration is required).
