Hello,

Now, I'm study NFPA 13 about storage occupancy and I'm not understand that mention in NFPA.

Refer NFPA 13 about storage occupancies
12.4* Wet Pipe Systems
A.12.4 Wet systems are recommended for storage occupancies. Dry pipe systems should be permitted only where it is impractical to provide heat.

What does mean " Impractical to provide heat " as mention above

Thank you very much

Say a -18 C Ice cream warehouse freezer room?

It can also be that these warehouses can be sparsely populated, vast and vey tall. Providing heat for such enormous spaces can be very expensive for something which does not contribute to the owner’s investment. A dry pipe system then becomes a good alternative. Of course the final call should be made by the AHJ or the insurance carrier given other parameters/criteria, building code requirements, commodity class etc.

Sometimes, it may be prudent to provide a dry pipe system for the area near an open gate to allow for continuous loading/unloading while the rest of the system may be protected by wet pipe systems.

cdafd,
For my project is Roll Paper Warehouse and I still not sure to select to be wet or dry system.

UFT12,
Thank you very much for your advise, I will appoint meeting with the owner and discuss with them for this issue about their Insurance and also AHJ.

Is this in the US??

With rolled paper, may not be able to use dry pipe.

What is the radius and height of the rolls?

It means that when an area has the possibility of having freezing temperatures than a dry sprinkler system is needed in lieu of a wet(ie water) sprinkler system which would freeze.
