Hi all,
I'm not into production but just want to know what is a long string and a short string inside an injection well? BTW, this question relates to a SAGD steam injection well.

I would love to read more on how the well is suppose to operate. I just need cursory knowledge so I can understand what the production people are talking about. If someone can guide me to a good literature that would be great.

Strings are separate tubular conduits to separate completion intervals. I have never heard of an injection well having 2 strings. With SAGD, might have the ability to inject shallow via the short string, and produce from a deeper interval via the long string. Could also have a shallow horizontal wellbore through the top portion of the reservoir, and a deeper horizontal wellbore through the lower portion of the reservoir, with the short and long strings connected to each horizontal.

long string/ short string terminalogy i am aware from working on the rigs is short string is surface casing and long string is production tubing
