I am very much confused on how a vector drive works. I cannot get a clear explaination from anyone on how a vector drive controls an AC induction motor. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
joey

All vector drive technologies have these basic and common tenets:
1. The current in an AC Motor can be separated into two distinct components: Id, the fluxproducing current, and Iq, the torque-producing current.
2. The total current is the vector sum of those two components.
3. Torque produced is based on a "cross product" of the vectors.
4. The level to which these components are identified and controlled defines the level of performance.
