Hi everybody,

I am looking for someone who can give me some information about the Boeing Service "Spares Material Authorization License" (SMAL).
Does anybody know what kind of service it is and how it works?

Thanks for your help.
Carlo

Yes, but I still have not received an answer from them.

CarloAero..

If You know anyone with a MyBoeingFleet.com access, they may be able do a Boeing intranet web-search on the words "Spares Material Authorization License".

I've used Boeing SMAL's when a part is not available and my customer (air carrier) will ground an aircraft. Your customer (air carrier) must request the SMAL from Boeing stating that their vendor has capability to manufacture the part and failure to supply the part will ground a specific tail number. When approved, Boeing will sometimes request how the part will be manufactured and processed. In my case, most of our processing is NADCAP approved which is in-line with Boeing's manufacturing requirements for their suppliers.

In most of my cases, the SMAL's were approved for axle nuts, axle sleeves and non-major structural components.
