i am looking fr what some people consider a large model. i am currently receiving a catpart from our customer that is in the 2gb size range then down to 800 mb in cgr. approx. 30k bodies. customers policy is no catproducts, only catparts. my system seems to just barely handle it. what would be a suggested upper end for file size for this system? i am the only one working with these and no one here has experience with catia v5 or models of this size. kinda on my own. i want to make sure that the file size is causing the system to run slow and not that there is an issue with the system.

system specs:
Dell precision T5610
dual xeon E5-2630
64 gb ram
nvidia quadro k5000

strange policy that is not to use CATProduct when you have to manage information that big. I really would like to understand the reason behind that.

Seems you have a big computer on your desk so just check the memory usage and get more is you see that you're swapping.

I would also ask the customer how he feels about working in such condition.

If it's slow add a working with oversize file fee.

I would say that 30K parts is a very big assembly

Hi,

I would also try to break back this CATPart in CATProduct , check for a macro in the forum. I'm pretty sure that your customer is working with CATProducts and CATParts but they are giving you a CATPart without history just for environment...I would ask them to use the DMU Navigator license to export the tree structure only in separate cgr files...or 3dxml...

step (214iso) license could also keep assembly structure while removing solid construction
