What is COP & COPQ?

How it will influence in selection of Tolerance value?

Kindly help in this regard.

COPQ = cost of poor quality (how bad would it be if the error isn't caught)

COP = cost of prevention (how hard is it to catch/mitigate the error) .. I haven't actually heard this one used but it makes sense to me in the context.. other places I've worked referred to this as "cost of detection" and usually it didn't have an actual dollar value, it was scored according to some agreed upon weighting criteria.
