In boeing 737cl srm 53-00-01 allowable damage1,
notes Y, it says "if the skin is pocketed above the lap joint,......" I don't sure the meaning of "pocket",and what is the "pocketed skin" above the lap joint?
what is "the skin is not pocketed above the lap joint?

what specific 737 model?
what page #?
what date of SRM version?

"pocketed" skin probably refers to a bay with reduced thickness skin

thankS for SWComposites' reply!
737-300
PAGE 103
SRM version is 88
Maybe pocketed skin is chem-milled skin!
I think.

Strange, but SRM 737-300, 53-00-01, 101, Fuselage Skin Allowable Damage, page 103, dated 10 Jan 1994, does not have notes [X] or [Y]

Sorry, thought you meant 1988 version.

"Pocket" must refer to a (probably rectangular) reduced thickness area in the skin (formed either by chem or mechanical milling).

For those still wondering, "pocketing" is indeed the chem milled pocket of skin (reduced thickness).
