Hello forum.

I recently bartered with someone on CL for some older electronics equipment. One of the items I received was this Microwave Frequency Stabilizer, model MOS-1, made by this company Microwave Systems Inc. that was based out of Syracuse, NY. I tried searching for documentation on the Internet for this unit, but couldn't find anything.

Does anyone know in what context this device was used? The father of the guy I got this from was into ham radio, so that was what I was thinking.

If photographs would help, let me know and I can post them.

Is it another name for a magnetron?

I imagine this Microwave Frequency Stabilizer would be useful in any system where resonance is of interest i.e. microwave cavities in EPR spectroscopy. See Irving Goldstein's, "Frequency Stabilization of a Microwave Oscillator with an External Cavity", also have a look at the patent: Microwave frequency stabilizer US 2562958 A.
