I am designing an in shop hydrostatic test system for portable fire extinguishers. The exts. range in size from 3" X 11" to 7" X 20". Was wondering if a Sears or equivalent pressure washer with a P.S.I. of 1400-1800 P.S.I. would be suitable. I know I can buy commercial units for this for 900.00-2000.00 dollars but am trying to save money. I have all the valves and gauges and plumbing already. Just wondering about the pump?

How quickly do you want to fill and reach test pressure? That will determine size/flow rate.

OR, you could fill them from a faucent,
THEN connect them,
and pressurize them with a hand pump.

Thank both of you for your response. I will be topping off the cylinders before the test heads go on. I would like to reach test pressure before 30 seconds and I already use a hand pump. My arm is tired that's why I am building a power unit. Thanks for the help
